The premise of Catch 22 is reminiscent of one of the most popular early video games of the 1980s: players travel around the playing field gobbling up treasure and, occasionally, other players. At the start of the game, plan your route, keeping your eye on the numerous, highly visible prizes.
Be aware, however, of special spaces which allow you to switch places with other players, or other spaces which let you roll the die again. Other players may set traps for you, and you for them, by placing “blocker” pieces in one another’s paths. Alliances may be formed, but double-crossing and subsequent revenge is routine in Catch 22, because, if you land directly on an opponent’s piece, you get all his treasure.
Socially eye-opening, and strategically challenging, part of Catch 22’s fun is in seeing which true survivors prevail. Includes large game board, blocker cubes, gold tokens, playing pieces, die, and instructions.
For two to six players or teams.
